The Battle for Barnstable by Alan M. Brooker
Click
Barnstable Manor has existed for many centuries, an historic monument to the Barnstable family who had migrated to the valley from Europe and founded the dynasty that was responsible for the peace and prosperity that had once existed in the surrounding villages.
They had also been responsible for the problems that had plagued the villages when the dynasty crumbled with the death of the last Lord. There had been strange and unaccountable events following the sale of the manor and the arrival of the new Lord, events that had driven several families from the valley in fear of their sanity and their lives.
A young reporter, born in the valley, returns to write an article on Barnstable Manor and is drawn into a web of danger and deceit which makes him doubt everything he has learned of the past of his family and friends.
